Dealing with the Clergy Abuse Within Our Diocese

Dealing with the Clergy Abuse Within Our Diocese

On September 12, 2019, in order to fairly and properly respond to the lawsuits filed for past sexual abuse in our diocese, our diocese filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Here are some resources to help you understand what this means for the victims, our parishes, and the diocese:

Here is a new letter (September 2020) from Bishop Matano updating us on the abuse claims and bankruptcy proceedings.

Please pray for all the victims to receive the help they need and for our diocese to proceed in accord with God's Will as we deal with the sins of the past.

Prior Information from our diocese:

July 2019 - Bishop Matano has written a timely letter concerning some of the challenges ahead for the Diocese and the impact of the New York State Child Victims Act. Please keep all concerned in your prayers. The letter as well as a video message from our Bishop and diocesan staff can be found on the diocesan website at: https://www.dor.org/letter-to-the-faithful-2019/
