St. Patrick’s Stations of the Cross
Eight of the fourteen stations which are uniquely beautiful oil paintings had been found to be vandalized or accidentallydamaged. Our insurance company has compensated St. Luke’s for their treatment and repair in the amount of $13,884.16. The restoration work is being done by West Lake Conservators,LTD of Skaneateles. Gary Better is reframing under their direction and repairing the damaged frames. Station V is now completed and on display at St. Patrick’s. The other seven damaged Stations have been removed and transported by parishioners. They should be completed by October. The remaining six stations are in need of some similar treatment to stabilize, preserve and protect them from further age related and environmental deterioration. For these we have begun fund-raising efforts. Thanks to Rose Muscarella, Patsy Zingaro, Betty Flynn and others, there will be a Daily Numbers Lottery for the month of September with tickets on sale now. We will need approximately $11,000. for this special project. An account has been set up at Community Bank in
Mt.
Morris and checks must be made to St. Patrick’s Stations/St. Luke’s Parish. Donna Guido will oversee the account and any donation will be greatly appreciated.
We are grateful to Joan Cottone who has volunteered to do historical research regarding the stations and names on the plaques. Please call Michele Donovan with any information, ideas, comments or questions at 658-3226 or by email at mickstrd@aol.com. We will keep you informed as we proceed in keeping our wonderful heritage alive for future generations.
Holy Angels Parish Center will have baked goods, hot dogs, pizza, soda pop and water beginning at 9:00 AM, at the Annual Nunda Village Yard Sale, August 16. Volunteers needed to work during the day and also a supply of baked goods. If you can help, call Nancy at 658-2572 or Margaret at 468-3879.
Used Clothing Drop-Off Box will remain in St. Thomas Parking Lot in Leicester until further notice. Items accepted include clothing, shoes, belts, purses, blankets, sheets and drapes. Items have to be in bags and tied.
Remember St. Luke's Trash to Treasure Sale: Are you cleaning out or having a yard sale? We can use what you can't for our sale which is in October. We have some storage room available in the church basement. Please call the office for information.
